ENTWISTLE -- Parkland County is in the process of seeking a new telecommunications provider for Entwistle.
This comes as TELUS has advised the County that ONET is planning to cease its role as village's telecommunications service provider as of August 21, 2026. As a result, a new service provider for Entwistle must now be identified. ONET, the current provider of Internet, TV, and phone services in Entwistle, was acquired by TELUS in 2024.
The County is actively managing this transition to minimize disruption and ensure Entwistle continues to have reliable telecommunications services," said Parkland County in a statement. "A competitive process is underway to bring in an experienced private provider to own and operate the Entwistle fibre network and deliver Internet, TV, and phone services over the long term."
The County says that Entwistle residents can anticipate no immediate service changes and ongoing updates. Formal service notices courtesy of ONET will be communicated later this month, and information from a new provider about service options will be sent out this coming summer. Residents will have the option to subscribe to the new provider and service offerings, or to explore other options.
Parkland County says its priority is to minimize disruption and ensure any future transition is planned and communicated. They add that this transition is focused on long-term stability and service quality.
