Parkland RCMP nab sleeping suspect in a stolen truck
Parkland, Alta – On March 15, 2024 Parkland RCMP responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint at Paul Band First Nation. The suspicious vehicle was located with a suspect sleeping in the running vehicle. The investigation discovered that the GMC truck and licence plate were previously reported stolen out of Edmonton. The suspect was impaired by drugs and was in possession of a machete.
41-year-old Jonathan Cardinal of no fixed address was charged with:
- Possession of stolen property over $5000
- Possession of stolen property under $5000
- Impaired Driving
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
- Operate a motor vehicle while prohibited (x2)
- Operate uninsured motor vehicle
The accused was brought before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody. His next Court appearance is March 20, 2024 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Stony Plain, AB.
