PAUL FIRST NATION -- Parkland RCMP arrested a resident of Paul First Nation after a firearms incident on Feb. 10.
It's alleged that the male suspect was observed by patrol officers walking down the road with a rifle in his hands near Township Road 530 and Range Road 34. School had recently ended for the day, and police say a school bus was observed nearby.
The Parkland RCMP says that their members took immediate action, disarming the male who was subject to a Court Order prohibiting the possession of firearms. The male had a bolt-action rifle, an air pistol, and a small quantity of meth in his possession.
"It was a case of being in the right place at the right time and acting decisively," said Corporal Mitch Rondeau. "I'm very proud of the members involved, as their quick response prevented any further risk to the public."
As a result, 27-year-old Rodney House was arrested on outstanding warrants and charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a Firearm while Prohibited by Court Order
- Careless use of a Firearm.
House made his first court appearance on Feb. 12, 2026, in Mayerthorpe.
