UPDATE: Parkland County Fire Services has contained the fire and there is no further danger to the public. The Emergency Alert was cancelled at 11:00 am however, the State of Local Emergency will remain in effect to allow fire crews access to private property as needed while they action hot spots for the remainder of the day and overnight.

PARKLAND COUNTY---- Parkland County has declared a state of emergency.
The step was taken due to a wildfire that took place on Sunday, May 3, near Range Road 10 and Beau Rand Estates.
The state of emergency allowed fire crews to enter private property and set up sprinklers.
As of now, the fire is held at approximately 20 hectares, and crews remain on site to contain the fire. Residents in the area between Range Road 11 to Range Road 281, and from the river north to Township Road 505, are advised to be prepared for evacuation should the situation change.
The county's fire hazard level has also been updated to a fire ban.
According to the latest update, the fire has not grown in size, and Parkland County fire crews, along with assistance from Alberta Wildfire, continue to manage the situation.
