Leduc County advises caution on gravel roads due to heavy precipitation

LEDUC COUNTY -- Motorists are asked to be aware of potentially difficult driving conditions in some areas of Leduc County.

This comes as heavy precipitation experienced in some areas of the county over the past several days has left some gravel roads soft and potentially challenging to navigate. Residents are encouraged to use caution, reduce their speed, and allow extra time when driving.

"County crews are actively monitoring road conditions and installing cautionary signage where needed to help keep motorists informed and safe," reads an advisory from Leduc County. "Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we respond to the impacts of this recent weather event."

Much of Leduc County and the greater Edmonton metro region was pelted with high volumes of rain following a recent storm that began on Sunday and lasted nearly three days. As of Tuesday afternoon, Leduc had received 89 mm of rain, while Devon was soaked with 87 mm. Between 75 and 100 mm accumulated over the three days in the City of Edmonton, while upwards of 110 mm fell in Calgary.
