BEAUMONT -- A suspect has been taken into custody following an incident involving a crossbow in Beaumont.

The incident prompted Beaumont RCMP to issue a shelter in place for local residents shortly after 8:00 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 7. In a statement, the detachment says that the advisory was put in place after police received reports from area residents of a suspect armed with a crossbow in the area of 46 Avenue and 38 Street.

A short time after the shelter in place was issued, RCMP confirmed that a suspect had been taken into custody and that there was no longer any danger posed to the public. Police did not release the suspect's name, and it's also currently unknown which charges have been laid in connection with the incident.
