LEDUC -- A strong gas odour continues to be noted by residents across the City of Leduc.
This comes as local gas distributor Apex Utilities says that while they're aware of the reports, which continue to come in high volumes as of today, they don't believe that the smell is the result of a gas leak.
The odour was first noted by residents near the Edmonton International Airport in the afternoon of Apr. 22; however, the smell has persisted into today with high winds wafting the odour across the municipality.
So far, residents have noted the smell in areas such as West Haven, Linsford Park, Suntree, Robinson, Southfork, and the downtown Central Business District. The smell is noted as being particularly bad in the Nisku area.
"We continue to receive a higher-than-usual volume of odour calls in and around Leduc/Nisku," said Apex Utilities in a statement. "Our staff are responding to each call we receive, and there is still no indication of a leak at this time. Today's strong winds are likely contributing to this issue."
If you notice an odour that causes you any concern, you're asked to call 1-866-222-2068.
