Two youths arrested following residential break-ins in Spruce Grove

SPRUCE GROVE -- A string of recent break-ins in Spruce Grove has resulted in charges against a pair of teenage suspects.

The incidents took place on the evening of Sunday, Sept. 13, with the first situation reported to police at approximately 10:45 p.m. Mounties say that two males that had approached a residence in Meadowpark Gate in Spruce Grove and kicked in the front door.

"The males caused substantial structural damage before leaving the area on electric scooters," said Theresa Martins, Media Liaison with Parkland RCMP. "While police were investigating the incident, a second complaint involving a similar offence was received from the Deer Park area. Officers located two males nearby and arrested them without incident."

Further investigation revealed that a third residence had also been targeted by the same individuals. As a result, two male residents of Spruce Grove, a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old, are each facing three counts of mischief over $5,000.

The suspects, who cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, were released to their parents and subsequently released from police custody on undertakings. They are scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 15, 2027.
