STONY PLAIN---- Trans Alta Tri Leisure Centre made a presentation at Stony Plain's Council meeting on November 24th. Under a proposed project, existing atmospheric boilers would be replaced with partial condensing boilers to save energy and lower greenhouse gas emissions.
"Back in 2019, we received funding for LED lighting retrofit which was supported by the city of Spruce Grove, " said TLC General Manager, Lenny Richer, while presenting a proposed plan to council members.
Municipalities are eligible to apply for up to $500,000 in funding through each funding cycle. The current funding cycle ends in March 2026.
The TLC has received approval from the board of directors to utilize funds amounting up to $250,000 from the restricted reserve.
"It's a partially evaporative condenser, so it is a much more high efficiency condenser, smaller unit, takes up less footprint, requires less ongoing maintenance is what we've been informed, " said Richer, talking about the new boilers.
Stony Plain confirmed their support with the plan and will be the sponsoring municipality for the project.
