STONY PLAIN -- The Stony Plain Flyers will be honouring the late Glenn Hall prior to their game against North Edmonton on Dec. 11.
Hall, who called Stony Plain home, passed away on Jan. 7, 2026, at the age of 94. The hall-of-fame goaltender suited up in 906 NHL regular-season games from 1952 to 1971, including a record 552 consecutive games (regular season and playoffs) from 1955 to 1962. He appeared between the pipes for Detroit, Chicago, and the St. Louis Blues -- with who he won a Stanley Cup with in 1961.
After retiring from professional hockey, Hall made Stony Plain his home on a 155-acre farm and became a valued and respected member of the community for over fifty years. His legacy was permanently solidified in the township through the Glenn Hall Centennial Arena, which the Stony Plain Flyers call home.
On Dec. 11, 2026, the Flyers will celebrate "Mr. Goalie" ahead of their game against the North Edmonton Red Wings. Residents can pre-purchase to guarantee entry and receive a commemorative program, ticket, and hockey card. The celebration will get underway at 6:00 p.m.
