SPRUCE GROVE---- Spruce Grove's Rotary club kicked off the holiday season and bought Christmas gifts for forty nine mothers with their proceeds from an auction.
The rotary received the proceeds from bidders who were attracted to the unique wrapping at their annual Silly Santa auction.
The auction was held in support of mothers at Wings of Providence Second Stage Shelter. It was held at RavenWolf Brewery and also featured 2025's creative poems.
Patricia Zeglen, one of the club's director said the rotary tries to stay consistent with the sort of items featured in the auction each year. However, additional items were featured at this year's auction.
"We had a lady in Spruce Grove donate tea towels, dish towels, beautiful crochet items like hats and scarves," said Patrica Zeglen, one of the rotary club's directors.
Patricia also mentioned that the auction is a feel good thing to do for families that need an extra bit of Christmas with the current economic conditions.
The rotary said they couldn't have thought of a better way to start the holiday season than by getting together for fun and giving to those in need.
