Stony Plain, AB

On Sept. 3, 2025, at approximately 11:04 a.m., Parkland RCMP responded to a complaint of a female who attended two businesses while brandishing a firearm, along 48  Street in Stony Plain.

The female, who was believed to be under the influence, first went into a bank with the firearm, requesting envelopes. Shortly after leaving the bank, she went into a nearby neighbourhood pharmacy. The female started pointing the firearm in various directions, including pointing it at an employee, with her fingers pulling the trigger. It was later learned that the gun was not loaded at the time.

Police were in the area and quickly located the female northbound on 48 Street in Stony Plain. Officers approached the female, challenging her to stop and put down the firearm. The female complied initially, but then resisted arrest before she was taken into custody without further incident.

A 35-year-old female is being held in custody pending the completion of the investigation and a judicial hearing. Charges are currently pending for weapons offences.
