The Parkland RCMP have concluded a human trafficking operation in the Stony Plain area. As a result of this investigation, 12 individuals were arrested and charged with Obtaining sexual services for consideration.
The individuals, who cannot be named as the charges have not been sworn before the court, were released on Appearance Notices with court dates pending at the Alberta Court of Justice in Stony Plain.
“Human trafficking is a heinous crime that that predominately impacts young women and girls who are compelled or forced to engage in for-profit sex acts. The arrests made during this operation highlight the fact that there a those who would seek to exploit and benefit from trafficked individuals and the Parkland RCMP is committed to investigating those who would harm our most vulnerable citizens” said Inspector Kevin McGillivray, the Detachment Commander of the Parkland RCMP.
