Investigation into a suspicious vehicle by the Parkland RCMP Crime Reduction Unit results in male being charged with multiple offences.
On Dec. 14, 2024 at approximately 3:00 A.M., the Parkland RCMP Crime Reduction Unit were completing proactive patrols in the area of Wabamun, Alta.. Officer’s in the area observed a suspicious truck hauling a trailer and attempted a traffic stop. The truck fled from the traffic stop and a pursuit was prevented by the timely deployment of a tire deflation device. With the vehicle disabled the male driver then fled on foot into a heavily wooded area. With the assistance the RCMP Police Dog Services and RCMP Air Services the male was tracked through the woods and arrested without incident, the truck and trailer were recovered and confirmed to have been stolen. No members of the public, the police, or the suspect were injured during this incident.
Jasen David Pappin (46), was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Flight from Police;
- Possession of stolen property, over $5,000;
- Breach of probation;
- Driving while prohibited;
- Obstruction;
- Breaching conditions related to a Community Sentencing Order.
Pappin was remanded into custody with his next court appearance scheduled for Jan. 8, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Stony Plain, Alta..
