SPRUCE GROVE---Spruce Grove Mayor Jeff Acker delivered the 2026 State of the City address during the annual State of the Region event.
The event was hosted by the Greater Parkland Regional Chamber of Commerce.
The state of the city address included last year's accomplishments.
"Heavy Metal Place officially opened to the community last May and has quickly become a recreation and cultural hub for residents and visitors alike. Plus, it's the new permanent home for our Spruce Grove Saints," said Mayor Jeff Acker, talking about the opening of Heavy Metal Place.
Councillor Danielle Carter also talked about previous year's Re-imagined Central Park project.
"The Re-imagined Central Park project transformed this well used park into an incredible new community gathering place," said Councillor Carter.
The address also included a special throwback to Spruce Grove's history to celebrate it's 40 years as a city in 2026.
George Cuff, former mayor of Spruce Grove, also attended the event and congratulated Mayor Jeff Acker.
"I congratulate you as a city in terms of being 40 years as a city. We're delighted to be a part of it and we know that it is going to be a great city going forward," said Cuff.
The event also featured an address from Stony Plain Mayor William Choy and Parkland County Mayor Rod Shaigec.
