SPRUCE GROVE -- The Brickhouse Smokery is hosting its second annual "Come to the Brickhouse Window" event.

The event gives residents a chance to bring forward stories of struggling members of the community, whether they be individuals or families. The stories are then posted on the window of the Brickhouse Smokery, where prior to December 1, residents can select a story that they wish to sponsor. Co-owner Amanda Wilhauk invites the public to help give back this holiday season.

"People can nominate a family, a story, or post anonymously a situation that is happening," said Wilhauk. "We post all these stories up on our window, then we invite the community to come to the Brickhouse Window, and if you'd like to, you can choose a story right off the window."

From there, residents will have until December 10 to donate things such as food or other applicable items that will help the individual or family posted in the story. Wilhauk says the items will then be shipped out for delivery on December 12.

"We had a story come in today about a student at one of our schools here in Spruce Grove, where a teacher is simply asking for a pair of shoes for a little boy -- he has no shoes," said Wilhauk. "Last year, we had a $10,000 wheelchair sponsored for a little guy in another one of our schools. It's not just food, it's what else can we help with? A funeral was also covered last year, and snow removal for a gentleman in a wheelchair. So many stories."

The Brickhouse Smokery has run its 'Twelve Days of Giving' campaign for the past nine years.
