SPRUCE GROVE -- Jeff Tokar will be seeking a seat on Spruce Grove City Council in the upcoming civic election.
Tokar will be his second time running for Council after coming up short in his last bid in 2021. Speaking to 88.1 The One, Tokar says that one of his goals if elected next Monday will be to manage new amenities.
"There's been some talk of a pool, but we're also going to have to address the challenges around Horizon States with the new high school coming on," said Tokar. "That's going to be important in the next four years."
Tokar has lived in Spruce Grove for the last twenty years and came up just 65 votes short of election in the last election. He says that if elected, he would work to empower the community by uplifting local volunteers and leaders, and creating more space for residents to lead and participate. Tokar says he would also work to manage Spruce Grove's rapid growth.
"We've unfortunately already seen some of the consequences of rapid growth," said Tokar. "Without the forethought and careful planning, we see things like congestion on the streets."
He says he believes in a people-focused approach to growth that includes density options to balance costs, taxes, and needs, and the continued development of community facilities.
