STONY PLAIN -- Councillor Eric Meyer is seeking re-election in Stony Plain.
Meyer was first elected to Council in 2017 and was re-elected in the 2021 municipal election. He says he's seeking re-election to continue serving the community that shaped his values of integrity, stewardship, and connection. Meyer adds that one of his priorities if re-elected on October 20th would relate to reducing crime.
"I've heard from business owners in the North Industrial Park about thefts," said Meyer in conversation with 88.1 The One. "We also had a number of challenges a couple of years ago at the skate park."
He says that one of his ideas to address crime is to carefully utilize security cameras in order to take crime more seriously. In addition to these plans, Meyer notes that he's dedicated to keeping Stony Plain affordable, vibrant, and future-ready. During his time in the municipality, he's also been a volunteer with various organizations.
"I volunteered at the fire hall for four years," said Meyer. "Recognizing that I had a skillset that could serve my community. Serving on Town Council is the latest iteration of something I've believed my whole life."
Eric Meyer has a background in the trades, emergency services, and he currently works as a fuel truck operator. He's called Stony Plain home since the age of two and says his values are service, accountability, and connection.
