2025 Municipal Election: Candidate Information Session

Are you passionate about Stony Plain and considering a run for Council? Join us for a Candidate Information Session on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Town Hall.

This session is designed for Stony Plain residents interested in learning about the roles, responsibilities, and time commitment involved in serving as an elected official. Attendees will also gain important insight into the election process, including how to file nomination papers, upcoming deadlines, and recent changes to rules and regulations.

A presentation will begin at 6:00 PM, followed by a Q&A session where participants can ask questions and learn more about what to expect during the election period.

The Municipal Election is scheduled for Monday, October 20, 2025, and the nomination period is now open. Residents over the age of 18 can file nomination papers for Councillor or Mayor until noon on September 22, 2025. Nomination appointments must be scheduled in advance by contacting the Returning Officer at election@stonyplain.com or 780-963-2151.

Before accepting campaign contributions or incurring expenses, all candidates must file their intent to run in accordance with the Local Authorities Election Act..
