BEAUMONT -- The City of Beaumont has begun construction on a new water feed line along 50th Avenue.
According to the municipality, the feed line is being built between the Main pumphouse near 57 Street and the St. Vital pumphouse east of 47 Street. This work is combined with the Wastewater System Renewal project to be completed at 47 Street and 50 Avenue.
"This work is part of the City's approved 2026 capital projects," reads a statement from Beaumont staff. "Beaumont's current water system continues to meet the community's drinking water needs, and this project will help improve capacity, reliability and redundancy in the water distribution network as the city grows."
During construction, motorists can expect traffic pattern changes and rolling lane closures along 50 Avenue. This will include delays through active work areas and restricted parking on the north side of 50 Avenue. Two-way traffic will be maintained, with one lane open in each direction while work is underway. Temporary electronic message boards will be operational near the work area before lane closures begin, and access to private driveways and entryways will be maintained throughout the project.
This work will also include upgrades required at each pumphouse to accommodate the installation of the water feed line extension. Construction is expected to continue until the end of October 2026, subject to weather, underground conditions and other construction-related factors. Completion is anticipated in late 2026 but may extend into 2027.
