LEDUC -- The Leduc Grain Elevator will host a Battle of the Bands on Saturday, Aug. 29.
This will come as part of the "Rock the Elevator" event, which is being put on by the Leduc Downtown Business Association. The free event will serve as a showcase of local and regional musical acts and will also feature local artists and a beer garden. Chandon Griffin, Operations Coordinator with the LDBA, says it's shaping up to be a memorable event.
"It's going to be a Battle of the Bands, a completely free event for the public," said Griffin. "We've got Leduc Brewing doing a beer garden, we'll have live music, vendors, art, games, performances, and food."
Competing at the Rock the Elevator event will be at least nine bands representing Leduc, Edmonton, Red Deer, and various other jurisdictions. These bands will consist of styles across all musical genres, including everything from rock to indie, punk, alternative, and hip-hop. A number of artists will also be set up in the vendor area doing live painting during the event.
"We'll also have a 50/50 draw going on," said Griffin. "Our goal is to make these events free for the public so it's accessible. At the same time, we're really hoping we can get a few donations, because it helps us continue to throw these cool events and create a more vibrant downtown in Leduc."
Rock the Elevator will take place from 6:00 p.m. until midnight on Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Leduc Grain Elevator.
