RIMBEY -- The latest quarterly policing statistics have been published by the Rimbey RCMP.
Mounties say that from July 1 to September 30, they investigated twelve break-and-enters, six mischiefs to property, and nineteen thefts. There were also five thefts of motor vehicles during this quarter, which RCMP attributes to the release of a prolific offender in July. They say that as soon as the offender was released, they were targeted and arrested with multiple vehicles in their possession. The stolen vehicles were recovered, and the offender was taken into custody once again.
Rimbey RCMP say there were eleven files of possession of stolen property, in which property such as stolen vehicles, license plates, and other property was recovered. According to police, one such piece of property was a $35,000 oil field air compressor.
The Mounties were also busy on local roads during the second quarter, handing out 63 warnings and 56 violation tickets. Rimbey RCMP say that their members within the detachment conduct patrols, or increase patrols, in specific locations/times based on the concerns are raised by the residents of Rimbey and the surrounding detachment area.
In their report, it's stated that there were ten incidents of criminal harassment in Rimbey from July 1 to September 30. This is up from just four such incidents during the same period in 2024, and two in 2023. Meantime, Cases of mischief to property saw a significant decrease when compared to the same period last year.
