Ponoka Santa Claus Parade set for Nov. 20

PONOKA -- The date has been set for this year's annual Santa Claus Parade in Ponoka.

As part of the lead-up to the major community event -- which is slated to take place on Friday, Nov. 20 -- the Town of Ponoka is encouraging residents, businesses, and community groups to register a float in the annual downtown parade.

"The parade is free to enter and offers a great opportunity for local businesses, community groups, and organizations to showcase their creativity and spread holiday cheer," reads a statement from the township. "It's also a chance for your business, community group, or organization to be recognized and celebrated throughout the community."

All floats will meet at the Ponoka Arena Complex (4410 54 Street) at 4:30 p.m. on the night of the parade, ahead of the start time at 6:00 p.m. The parade will travel along 54 Street before turning east down 46 Avenue, north on 50 Street, and west on 51 Avenue. From there, the floats will head south on 51 Street, west on 48 Avenue, and south on 54 Street back to the Arena.

Registrations for this year's parade can be made by filling out an online form on the Town of Ponoka's website. The deadline to register floats has been set for Thursday, Nov. 19, at 4:00 p.m. Ponoka staff ask residents not to include Mr. or Mrs. Claus on floats, as the township is already making arrangements for Santa to appear in the parade.
