PONOKA -- Free tax clinics hosted by the Ponoka FCSS will continue throughout the month of April.
This comes as part of the organization's Community Income Tax Program, which aims to assist eligible residents in the Town of Ponoka and the eastern portion of Ponoka County (5th Meridian to the Camrose County line). For next month, the tax clinics will take place at the Ponoka Civic Centre from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on April 7th, April 9th, April 14th, and April 16th.
To be eligible for the free tax clinics, residents must earn $40,000 a year or less, while couples must make a combined $50,000 or less annually. Volunteers with the Family and Community Support Services will help those on low income, pension, benefits such as old age security, disability insurance, and social insurance, and more.
The FCSS will not be assisting with matters such as self-employment income, business or rental expenses, capital gains or losses, foreign property, final returns for deceased individuals, or bankruptcy.
Residents are asked to bring their identification, tax slips, and any other required information when attending the clinics.
