WETASKIWIN -- A resident of Maskwacis has died after being struck by a train.
According to RCMP, authorities responded to the incident at 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19, just south of the Wetaskiwin city limits. This comes after reports were received that a collision occurred between a southbound train and a pedestrian.
After conducting an extensive search of the area with the assistance CPKC Police, the body of a deceased male was located in the area. While few details were released by police, it has been confirmed that the deceased was an 18-year-old Maskwacis resident.
In a statement, police send their condolences to the friends and family of the deceased.
