Stolen vehicles recovered following police investigation in Spruce Grove

SPRUCE GROVE -- A pair of stolen vehicles were recovered following a recent police investigation in Spruce Grove.

The investigation began on the evening of Sept. 4, 2026, when officers with the Parkland RCMP received reports of a shoplifting incident at a local grocery store. Upon arrival to the scene, officers located a female suspect attempting to enter the passenger side of a red car. As police approached, the male driver accelerated forward in an attempt to leave the area. Officers prevented the female from entering the vehicle and arrested her without incident.

"The male driver fled the scene at a high rate of speed on Callahoo Road," reads a statement from Parkland RCMP. "Police recognized the suspect and attended his residence, where they located the stolen red Ford Taurus associated with the investigation. The male suspect was observed running from the vehicle and was arrested without incident."

Further investigation also led to the recovery of a stolen motorcycle. As a result, 28-year-old Stony Plain resident Colten Battaglini was charged with multiple offences, including dangerous operation of a vehicle, failure to stop for a peace officer, one count of theft over $5,000, and three counts of theft under $5,000. He's set to appear in court in St. Albert on Oct. 14, 2026.

The female suspect, 20-year-old Jayden Stebbings of Spruce Grove, was charged with one count of theft under $5,000, and two counts each of obstructing a peace officer and possession of stolen property over $5,000. She made her first court appearance on Sept. 22, 2026.
