SPRUCE GROVE---- New crime statistics from the RCMP have revealed that Spruce Grove's Crime Severity Index last year was the lowest in over a decade.
The city's CSI fell from 79.1 in 2024 to 73 in 2025. The decrease in CSI is attributed to 53 fewer break and enters, 68 fewer fraud charges, and 45 fewer vehicle thefts.
The city's 2025 CSI value was 17.6 points lower than the overall provincial value of 90.6 and was the lowest value recorded since at least 2015.
The Crime Severity Index is calculated by giving a higher weighting to serious crimes and a lower weighting to minor ones.
CSI values for 2026 are expected to be released in July next year.
