Parkland County--- The Parkland School Division Board were updated on various reports during Tuesday's meeting
The Board received the instructional services literacy and numeracy report which provided an overview of the current state of student achievement.
"We saw with the shift in assessment instrument, shifting from the Elk Island assessment screen to the Alberta Education Assessment Screen, we saw a significant increase in the number of students who are identified as being at risk, " said Shaye Patras, Numeracy and Achievement Director while talking about early elementary surge.
The 2025-2026 First Quarter Financial Report was also presented to the board. According to the report, the division showed a surplus of $2.5 million. A deficit of $409K is expected for the year ending August 31, 2026.
For the Athabasca Delta Community Report, updates were given about the improvements made in the school with the help of the grant from the provincial government
"That went into some remediation of some water, you know some extensive refinishing of floors and that money has been exhausted," said Mark Francis, Deputy Superintendent.
