SPRUCE GROVE -- Two suspects have been arrested for attempting to break into vehicles in a local parking garage.

Parkland RCMP were alerted to the matter on Apr. 10 by a building manager who reported that two individuals were checking doorhandles in the underground parking area. Media Liasson Theresa Martins says that police arrived at the location and were notified that the two male suspects were sitting inside a stolen Jeep Cherokee.

"Police went into the underground parking lot, and the suspect vehicle began attempting to evade police in an aggressive manner, maneuvering around the police vehicle," said Martins. "When the suspects noticed another police vehicle parked in the way of the parking garage door, they stopped. Police arrested the two suspects without incident."

As a result, 42-year-old Daniel Warner of Onoway was charged with the following:

  • Break-and-enter
  • Mischief under $5,000 damage to motor vehicle
  • Possess break-in instruments
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Operation while prohibited
  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon
  • Possession of methamphetamine

31-year-old Brandon Hiltz of Stony Plain was charged with:

  • Break-and-enter
  • Mischief under $5,000 damage to motor vehicle
  • Possess break-in instruments

Both Warner and Hiltz are set to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in St. Albert on Apr. 15, 2026.
