SPRUCE GROVE -- On Jan. 19, 2026, Parkland RCMP received a complaint that a male opened his driver’s side door and pointed a handgun at a youth pedestrian, near Jennifer Heil Rd and Tri Leisure Way.
Police were notified that the suspect vehicle was a white GMC truck and that it had left the scene. Through the investigation, police were able to locate the vehicle at the same area where the incident had occurred a few days later. Police approached the vehicle and arrested the male without incident. Police seized an imitation firearm (a handgun-style pellet gun) from the driver’s door pocket inside the vehicle.
Dai Suki Ryan Giovanni Kootenay, (19), a resident of Spruce Grove, has been charged with multiple firearms-related offences.
Dai Suki Kootenay was taken before a Justice of the Peace and released with his next court appearance on Feb. 18, 2026, at the Alberta Court of Justice in St. Albert.
