PARKLAND COUNTY -- A Spruce Grove resident is facing multiple charges following a dangerous driving incident.
Parkland RCMP say the incident began when a 26-year-old driver fled from police after an attempted traffic stop on Jan. 25, 2026. They allege that the driver fled the scene at a high rate of speed while driving in an unsafe manner in the wrong lanes of traffic.
RCMP located the vehicle near Highway 60, and say that the male suspect refused to step outside of the vehicle. Due to concern that he would continue to attempt to drive away as the vehicle was still running, police then broke the driver’s side window and took the male into custody.
Upon his arrest, a small child was located inside the vehicle. The child allegedly crawled out of the passenger seat from under a blanket, was checked by EMS, and was then picked up by a family member.
26-year-old Ryan Joseph Donnelly, a resident of Spruce Grove, has been charged with the following offences:
- Flight from Police Officer
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Abandon Child
- Resist or Obstruct Police Officer
Donnelly was held in custody and made his first court appearance on Jan. 28, 2026, at the Alberta Court of Justice in St. Albert.
