STONY PLAIN---- The town of Stony Plain has painted two new Veterans Memorial Crosswalks to serve as a reminder of respect and remembrance for all who have served and sacrificed for Canada.
The project was developed in partnership with the Stony Plain Legion and reflects the Town’s ongoing commitment to recognizing local veterans and supporting initiatives that preserve their legacy. Each design features two red maple leaves and the words “In honour of those who served and sacrificed” along with the French translation.
“These crosswalks will serve as powerful symbols of gratitude and remembrance, and remind us of the courage, service, and sacrifice of those who have defended our freedoms.” said Mayor William Choy.
The crosswalks are located at the intersection of Veteran’s Boulevard and 44 Avenue and at the entrance of the Stony Plain Legion.
“Working with the Legion on this project was an honour,” said Supervisor of Roads and Infrastructure Dave Hofhuis. “We’re proud to have helped create something that stands as a symbol of respect for those who served.”
The crosswalks will remain a permanent feature in Stony Plain and serve as a year-round reminder of respect and remembrance for all who have served.
