ENOCH -- A 20-year-old Devon resident has died following a fatal vehicle collision just outside of Enoch.

Alberta RCMP say the collision involved a pickup truck and a dirt bike on Highway 60 shortly before 11:00 p.m. on Monday, Apr. 20. The 20-year-old male passenger on the dirt bike was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the 16-year-old male driver -- also a resident of Devon -- was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Corporal Troy Savinkoff says they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

"It's still very much under investigation. What we do know right now is that the dirt bike riders were attempting to cross the highway when they were struck by the pickup," said Cpl. Savinkoff. "Whether they were stopping at the intersection, as well as crossing, ultimately they crossed into the path of the truck that was traveling along the highway."

While information on the status of the 16-year-old driver of the dirt bike is limited, Cpl. Savinkoff believes that his condition is not critical.

"The driver, a 16-year-old Devon resident, was taken by ambulance to hospital with serious injuries from the collision," said Cpl. Savinkoff. "The two occupants of the other vehicle, a pickup with a trailer, were not injured."

Police remained on scene for several hours to conduct their preliminary investigation.
