The new Advertising Bylaw will see all statutory notices and business notices from the city posted on their website.
On Monday, November 25, Leduc City Council approved a new Advertising Bylaw aimed at modernizing how statutory notices are shared with residents, as required by the Municipal Government Act. Statutory notices include information about bylaws, resolutions, meetings, public hearings, or other items mandated by provincial legislation. The bylaw, which takes effect on February 1, 2025, emphasizes timely and effective digital communication.
Under the new rules, notices must be posted on the City’s website at least 14 days before the relevant date, eliminating the previous requirement to advertise five days in advance in a newspaper.
The City will launch an information campaign before the changes take effect, utilizing traditional media, social media, its website, and direct mail to households. This initiative will educate residents about the bylaw changes and provide guidance on participating in the public hearing process.
