Leduc considering a new advertising bylaw to improve communication with residents.
The City of Leduc is exploring a new Advertising Bylaw aimed at improving communication and transparency with residents. The proposed bylaw responds to concerns from residents who feel underinformed about city decisions and business matters.
If implemented, the bylaw would require all business items needing public input, as well as notices for special council meetings, to be posted on the city website at least 14 days in advance. The website would serve as the primary platform for these updates.
Senior Development Planner Kelly Stadnyk says the city aims to address miscommunication by adopting clearer language and terminology more accessible to residents.
"We want to use communication tools that reach Leduc, but then we also want to endure they understand the things that we're trying to communicate to them." Stadnyk Shared at the City's council meeting on Monday.
Stadnyk emphasized that this shift would help reduce confusion and ensure more meaningful engagement with the community.
The city is still discussing the potential rollout of the new bylaw.
