LEDUC -- The City of Leduc's 65 Avenue and QEII Interchange opens to the public today.
As of October 24, 2025, motorists will be able to utilize the new interchange to travel between the City of Leduc, Leduc County, and Edmonton International Airport. The multi-million-dollar project first got underway in late 2022 in collaboration between the City and Alberta Government. According to Leduc staff, the project will be fully wrapped up in the coming weeks, as finishing touches such as landscaping are now being completed.
Motorists will now be able to utilize the eastbound and westbound bridges over the QEII, as well as the on and off-ramps connecting to southbound lanes of the highway. Perimeter Road to 65 Avenue to Grant MacEwan Boulevard will be open as of this afternoon, while the roundabouts on the east and west sides of the overpass will also be accessible.
The City of Leduc says the east teardrop roundabout will help manage traffic flow from the new and existing overpass and control congestion in the area. The west roundabout will connect motorists to Airport Perimeter Road, 50 Street, and 35 Avenue.
When first approved, the major project was estimated to cost $112,000,000 and was funded through a cost-shared agreement between the Government of Alberta ($96.4 million) and City of Leduc ($15.7 million).
