City of Leduc flags lowered to half-mast until Aug. 7

LEDUC -- The City of Leduc has lowered its flags to half-mast to honour a recently deceased municipal employee.

While very few details have been communicated by the city, it has been confirmed that the flags have been lowered to respect the memory of the former employee, whose name has not been released. Details on which department the individual worked in have also not been released by the municipality. 

"City flags will fly at half-mast at the Leduc Civic Centre and Operations Building until Friday, Aug. 7, in honour of a city employee who has died," reads a statement from the City of Leduc. "Our condolences are with their family and friends during this difficult time."

Leduc staff note in their statement that the employee's death was not the result of a workplace-related incident, and that no further details about the matter will be released. This marks the first time city flags have been lowered to half-mast since the aftermath of the Tumbler Ridge shooting in February.
