STONY PLAIN -- The Town of Stony Plain has announced the installation of two new EV charging stations.
According to the municipality, the new charging stations were made possible through funding from the 2024 ATCO Community Energy Fund Grant and reflect their commitment to sustainable transportation. The first charger is located on the west side of Town Hall at 4905 51 Ave. It's noted that the station is available to the public at all hours and is free to use, with no associated charging costs.
The second charger can be found at the Public Works Building, and is designated for use by Stony Plain's electric vehicle fleet. Mayor William Choy says the new chargers will improve public access to EV infrastructure and support the Town's long-term environmental and sustainability goals.
"The installation of the new EV chargers is another step toward supporting cleaner transportation options and long-term environmental health," says Mayor Choy. "We are grateful for the ATCO Community Energy Fund Grant’s support in advancing and strengthening the Town’s commitment to sustainability."
Choy adds that the ATCO Community Energy Grant supports the Town of Stony Plain with environmental stewardship in pursuing their priorities of sustainability and reduced carbon emissions, also defined in the most recent Environmental Portfolio Annual Update.
