LEDUC -- Leduc RCMP are investigating after "threatening messages" were written at Ohpaho Secondary last week.

According to police, the messages were discovered inside the building on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026. After being observed by school officials, members of the Leduc RCMP detachment were informed about the situation and attended the scene a short time later. Police say they attended the school to assess the matter and ensure the safety of students and staff. An investigation into the origin of the messages is currently underway.

"Ohpaho School and RCMP are treating this incident with the utmost seriousness," reads a statement from the Leduc RCMP. "Leduc RCMP emphasize that actions of this nature, which cause disruption, fear, and anxiety within the school community, will not be tolerated. Anyone identified as responsible for creating these messages will be investigated."

We've reached out to the RCMP for more details about the messages and if any specific groups were targeted, but we have not yet received a response. We'll update this story if we are able to learn more about the ongoing investigation. Leduc RCMP are asking anyone who witnessed suspicious activity or has information that could assist with the investigation to contact police.
