LEDUC COUNTY -- Environmental advocates are inviting residents to tour the new Tide Creek Corner Conservation Area in Leduc County.

This will come as part of the fall gathering of the Stewardship Community of Practice hosted by the Battle River Watershed Alliance on Tuesday, Nov. 3, starting at 10 a.m. The BRWA has organized a tour of the newest lands conserved by the Edmonton and Area Land Trust, which is located at Tide Creek Corner by Pigeon Lake.

The tour will consist of a 45-minute hike and will be led by Kayleen Falkenstein from Edmonton and Area Land Trust. The trail is a mowed grass trail and uneven, so sturdy footwear, such as hiking boots or shoes, is recommended. In the event of inclement weather (winds over 50 km/h, ice, or snowstorm), the tour could be postponed.

"After the site visit, participants are invited to gather for hot drinks, treats, and updates on current projects from the Stewardship Community of Practice," reads a statement from the BRWA. "Please bring a camp chair if you have it, as we will gather at the site for a visit after our hike (weather permitting – backup location will be the Pigeon Lake library)."

Attendees are encouraged to bring a camera, binoculars, and thermos/travel mug for the day.
