PONOKA -- Ponoka continues to explore plans to enhance road safety in the area of Ponoka Elementary.
The proposed measures seek to boost safety for local students and reduce congestion near the school. According to municipal administration, a preliminary traffic study has now been completed, and the matter will be discussed at a future council meeting.
In a report from earlier this month, it's stated that the measures would be introduced in the area of 48 Avenue. It's also noted in the document that work towards the design and implementation of the plans is being undertaken in collaboration with local school officials. We'll have updates on this developing story as they become available.
Meantime, plans to reduce residential speed limits to 40 km/hour across the Town of Ponoka also continue to be explored. Ponoka's latest 'Master Projects and Task List' indicates that these discussions remain "In Progress" and that the potential change would impact all local roads except school and playground zones.
