PONOKA -- Charges are pending after a firearms-related arrest on November 20 in Ponoka.
According to Ponoka RCMP, reports of an armed individual came in during the evening, resulting in a heavy police presence in the areas between 46 and 48 Avenue and 54 and 51 Street. Police advised residents to avoid the area and that a visual description of the suspect was not initially clear.
A heavy police presence was dispatched to the area, along with police dogs, in an effort to locate the suspect. A short time later, a suspect was taken into custody. Due to charges still pending, information about the suspect is limited at this time. Police say that once charges are sworn, they will release more information about the incident.
