PONOKA -- The Town of Ponoka is inviting residents to join them in celebrating Seniors' Week.
From now through Sunday, June 7, the township has scheduled various events and activities to honour and celebrate the contributions of older adults in Ponoka. Ponoka staff say that as part of this week's celebrations, more than a dozen free activities are on tap for residents aged 55 and older.
"This proclamation honours the essential role that seniors play in fostering a vibrant community through their experience, knowledge and active involvement in our town," said Ponoka Mayor Kevin Ferguson.
These events include yoga in the park, pickleball, aquafit, a garden party with live music, planter potting, seniors' tea, a nutrition session with a registered dietitian, chair yoga, strawberry social, a matinee featuring the movie 'Up', fairy tale picnics, music trivia night, show and shine, a garage sale, and a class on reverse mortgages.
All of these activities are hosted in partnership between the Town of Ponoka, Ponoka FCSS, the Rimoka Housing Foundation, Ponoka Jubilee Library, Seasons Retirement Community, and others.
