RIMBEY -- Charges are pending against a Rimbey resident after drugs and illegal cigarettes were seized at a local business.
According to the Rimbey RCMP, the seizures came during a recent search warrant conducted at the Vault Sports Pub on 50th Avenue. The Mounties say the search was executed following a lengthy investigation, and resulted in the seizure of large quantities of cocaine, fentanyl, psilocybin, and cannabis.
"A Rimbey resident was arrested and charged, though these charges are pending and the information hasn't been sworn," said RCMP Corporal Troy Savinkoff. "Once it's sworn, we'll be able to provide this person's information, but until that's done, we're unable to."
Cpl. Savinkoff says that police also seized a total of 64 cartons of illegal cigarettes. Meantime, police are still working to determine if there are any other suspects connected to the case, as their investigation into the matter continues.
"Right now, we've laid charges against just one individual," said Cpl. Savinkoff. "Certainty looking at the larger web is often a part of our investigation, and that is an avenue we are still looking at."
Residents are asked to contact the local RCMP detachment at 403-843-2223 to report any possible drug activity in the Town of Rimbey. You can also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
