RIMBEY -- A two-vehicle crash near Rimbey has resulted in the death of a 21-year-old woman.
According to Rimbey RCMP, the crash occurred at approximately 9:40 a.m. Saturday morning along Highway 20 at Township Road 412. Police say that the Rimbey resident was attempting to pass other vehicles when she collided with a grain truck. RCMP Corporal Troy Savinkoff says the woman was found deceased when emergency crews arrived on scene.
"She was attempting to pass some vehicles that were slowed down for the grain truck, that was ultimately making a left-hand turn," said Cpl. Savinkoff. "She ended up hitting the back of the grain truck."
Savinkoff says that the driver of grain truck was assessed by EMS at the scene, but it was determined that they did not sustain any injuries as part of the collision. RCMP remained on scene for several hours and continue their investigation into the incident.
RCMP extend their condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the deceased.
