RIMBEY -- A 24-year-old Rimbey man has been charged in connection with a fatal vehicle collision from last summer.
RCMP say the crash took place on July 5, 2025, near Highway 12 and Highway 766, and resulted in the deaths of two residents of Lacombe. Police note that the two deceased -- identified as 75-year-old and 72-year-old males -- were the sole occupants of a GMC Sierra when they were struck by a Dodge truck.
Following an extensive investigation into the cause of the crash, RCMP arrested 24-year-old Aaron Barr, the driver of the Dodge, on Mar. 20, 2026. He's since been charged with two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.
Barr was taken before a Justice of the Peace and released from custody with his next court date set for Apr. 24, 2026, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
