PONOKA -- Long-time food bank contributor Sybil Evans will be honoured at a recognition event today.
The event will be held this afternoon at the Ponoka Legion to celebrate Evans' more than thirty years with the Ponoka Food Bank Board. During this time, she has helped feed thousands of local residents facing food insecurity in Ponoka and the surrounding area.
In a statement from the Ponoka Food Bank, they note that Evans did not just volunteer as a board member, but also contributed countless unpaid hours to the day-to-day operations of the organization.
"Sybil, we cannot thank you enough," said Dean Hill, Board Chair of the Ponoka Food Bank.
The recognition event for Sybil Evans will be held October 24, 2025, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., as members of the public are encouraged to stop by the Ponoka Legion to show their support.
The Ponoka Food Bank serves the community and surrounding districts with year-round support and was first established in 1984.
