MASKWACIS -- Alberta RCMP say the QE II near Maskwacis has fully reopened following a semi-truck rollover.
Police say the rollover occurred on Wednesday, Apr. 8, and resulted in the closure of the northbound lanes of the highway just north of the Maskwacis exit. It's noted that emergency crews attended the scene in the evening and that traffic was rerouted to Highway 2A via Highway 611.
Crews remained on scene to begin the clean-up effort throughout the night. As of Thursday morning, RCMP released a statement saying that one of the northbound lanes had been reopened to traffic and that speeds were reduced in the area. Prior to the afternoon, the northbound lanes of the QE II were once again closed to allow tow trucks to gain access to the area and complete their removal of the trailers.
As of the afternoon, RCMP note that the debris had been cleared and that the highway had fully reopened to traffic.
