PONOKA -- Ponoka's annual 'Kickoff to Christmas' event is set to take place on Friday, November 21.
According to the municipality, the evening will feature an exciting slate of festivities, starting at 4:45 p.m. with live music on the stage beside the Town Christmas tree. Next, the Santa Claus Parade will get underway at the Ponoka Arena Complex starting at 6:00 p.m.
Here's this year's parade route:
- Along 54 Street
- East down 46 Avenue
- North on 50 Street
- West on 51 Avenue
- South on 51 Street
- West on 48 Avenue
- South on 54 Street back to the Arena.
The Town of Ponoka will be setting up temporary road closures along the parade route just before 5 p.m. The road closures will be removed once the parade ends.
Immediately following the Santa Claus Parade, families will have an opportunity to take photos with Santa Claus, as well as Mrs. Claus, at the Town Christmas tree next to the Ponoka Legion. Mayor Kevin Ferguson will also be on hand, along with event sponsors, for the annual Christmas tree lighting at approximately 6:45 p.m.
