Ponoka Stampede Parade set for June 27

PONOKA -- The Town of Ponoka is advising the public of several road closures scheduled for this week's Ponoka Stampede Parade.

The annual parade -- set for this Friday -- will result in a number of traffic disruptions starting at 9:00 a.m. and ending around noon. Motorists should avoid the parade route area during the temporary road closures and observe all barricades and signage.

The parade will begin at the Ponoka Arena Complex (4410 54 Street), and travel:

• North on 55 Street (from 45 Avenue to 48 Avenue)
• East on 48 Avenue (from 55 Street to 51 Street)
• North on 51 Street (from 48 Avenue to 57 Avenue)
• East 57 Avenue (from 51 Street to 50 Street)
• South on 50 Street (from 57 Avenue to 46 Avenue)
• West on 46 Avenue (from 50 Street to 54 Street)
• South on 54 Street (from 46 Avenue to 45 Avenue) before returning to the Arena.

The parade itself will kick off at 10:00 a.m. and is hosted by the Ponoka Stampede and Exhibition Association.
